Press ReleasesFidelia® Extends NetVigil Instant Business Visibility™ Technology Augments insight into overall business performance with rules-based flexibility for NetVigil business containers Princeton, NJ – August 25, 2003 – Fidelia® Technology, the leader in Instant Business Visibility™ software, Fidelia® Technology, the leader in Instant Business Visibility™ software, announced it has expanded the business intelligence functionality and flexibility of its NetVigil business container technology. Fidelia has added the ability to automatically create containers using pre-defined rules. Containers are personalized views that show the real-time performance of business services derived from the performance of the underlying IT infrastructure. The new features make it easier for IT managers to create personalized views of their networked devices and keep these views up-to-date as devices are added or deleted from the system. The enhancements provide business and IT managers with additional insight into their overall business performance as it relates to their IT infrastructure. "As infrastructures become more complex and at the same time more instrumental to the operation and profitability of the business, organizations must take steps to improve their insight into the IT infrastructure," said Dennis Drogseth, Vice President of Enterprise Management Associates. "Today's business line managers need flexible tools that allow them to visualize and understand the IT infrastructure to help them understand and prioritize their business processes. NetVigil's enhanced capabilities further establish Fidelia as a pacesetter within the industry." Using Rules to Automate Container Creation Rules can be based on existing device properties or custom tags specified by the user. Custom tags can be assigned to each device and then used to automatically create containers that match the tags. Additionally, existing device attributes such as name, IP, and type, can be used to automatically include matching devices in a container. For example, NetVigil can be set up to automatically find and include in a "NY Call Center" container all devices with the name "router.*, whose location is "New York" and which have a custom attribute set to "call center." "Successful business decisions depend on immediate visibility into the real-time and historical performance of a business's underlying networks, applications, and systems," said David Woodall, president and CEO of Fidelia. "Our roadmap for NetVigil is to continue to augment its ability to help our customers gain insight into how performance degradations and problems impact their bottom line." Fidelia's evolution of NetVigil is focused on three key differentiators: instant business insight, integrated fault and performance monitoring, and intelligent automation. Combined, these qualities provide business managers - whose profits rely on consistent IT performance - with the intelligence required to make real-time business decisions about their IT operations. About Fidelia® NetVigil NetVigil provides integrated fault and performance monitoring of applications, networks, systems and user defined data sources. This versatile data gathering combination enables customers to rapidly create business containers - personalized views showing the real-time performance of business services derived from the performance of the underlying IT infrastructure. The object-oriented components of NetVigil's architecture are capable of automatically determining relationships between problems in the infrastructure and business services. With its open, easily extensible APIs and data feeds, NetVigil can monitor any device or application that can be instrumented. Powerful Data Gathering Elements (DGEs), each with its own fault and performance database, automatically discover problems and establish baselines and thresholds for monitored applications, networks, and systems. Business containers can be created on the fly and can represent a geographic location, a business unit, or a revenue-generating service. Containers can share elements with other containers, showing the impact of an IT element on multiple business services in real-time. Earlier this year, Fidelia added a 'nested' container feature to NetVigil (i.e. containers within containers), including the ability to drill down to see the real-time status of nested containers. NetVigil features an intuitive point-and-click, browser-based user interface that illustrates infrastructure fault and performance with red-amber-green traffic lights. In addition to allowing the creation of containers, NetVigil's capabilities include a sophisticated "delegated user authority," which lets IT managers distribute responsibilities for personal infrastructure slices to other users in the organization. Downloadable over the Web, NetVigil begins discovering the IT infrastructure immediately, returning its value within days. The NetVigil application is affordably priced for mid-tier enterprises, but scalable for Fortune 500 organizations. Licenses for NetVigil v3.5 start at $40,000, with an average price of approximately $80,000 to $100,000. To date, Fidelia has filed for four patents on the NetVigil intellectual property. NetVigil runs under Solaris, Linux and Windows. About Fidelia® Technology, Inc. Founded in 2000, Fidelia Technology, Inc. is a privately held, venture-funded software company.
