With the new release, Fidelia expands the intelligence and scope of its landmark business container software technology. NetVigil is a breakthrough solution that provides integrated fault and performance monitoring of applications, networks, systems and user defined data sources. This versatile data gathering combination enables customers to rapidly create business containers - personalized views showing the real-time performance of business services derived from the performance of the underlying IT infrastructure. Key NetVigil v3.5 innovations include the ability to build containers within containers, and the flexibility to quickly drill down through the service hierarchy to view the real-time status of these "nested" containers. "Our IT performance plays a major part in determining the performance of our revenue-generating business services," said Mike Stinebaugh, Manager, Networks & Systems at eBenX, an SHPS company. eBenX uses a combination of Internet and proprietary back-end technology to deliver health & welfare benefits, medical management, and consulting services. "NetVigil is providing real-time monitoring of our geographically dispersed data centers, network devices and various server types," Stinebaugh explained. "By making business containers even more flexible, Fidelia will enable us to produce more detailed and meaningful SLA reports. The immediate value proposition of the NetVigil upgrade is that it will help us even better understand our overall infrastructure performance in business terms." "Fidelia came to our attention with a business benefit and impact message that clearly set it apart from many of the vendors in this space," said Rich Ptak, president of Ptak & Associates Inc. "Fidelia's NetVigil product and technology provide a solution to an identifiable and pervasive business pain. Fidelia developed their solution for enterprises that operate and KNOW they operate business critical network and IT resources." "A key element of our vision for the NetVigil technology is to help our customers make better business decisions by providing better information from the IT infrastructure," said David Woodall, Fidelia's President and CEO. "Our ongoing commitment is to continue to extend and enhance NetVigil's ability to further automate business service management." A Low-Footprint Solution Fidelia NetVigil experienced significant market traction in recent months because it is a lightweight solution in an industry migrating away from heavy infrastructures and complex monitoring solutions. Next-generation products with significantly lower total cost of ownership - such as the Linux operating system and blade servers - are driving the market toward monitoring solutions like NetVigil that can determine business impact and provide business service visibility in real-time. "Today's IT organizations need to show quantifiably how IT infrastructure and application behavior impact business," said Glenn O'Donnell, Program Director, META Group. "While technology to accomplish this is only emerging, users should initiate business perspective management efforts through models that reflect the relationships between business requirements and the underlying IT components and services. Such relationships need full-end-to-end visibility for maximum effect." The object-oriented components of NetVigil's architecture are capable of automatically determining relationships between problems in the infrastructure and business services. With its open, easily extensible APIs and data feeds, NetVigil can monitor any device or application that can be instrumented. Powerful Data Gathering Elements (DGEs), each with its own database, automatically discover problems and establish baselines and thresholds for monitored applications, networks, and systems. Business containers can be created on the fly and can represent a geographic location, a business unit, or a revenue-generating service. Containers can share elements with other containers. NetVigil features an intuitive point-and-click, browser-based user interface that drills down to illustrate infrastructure fault and performance with red-amber-green traffic lights. In addition to allowing the creation of containers, NetVigil's capabilities include a sophisticated "delegated user authority," which lets IT managers distribute responsibilities for personal infrastructure slices to other users in the organization. Downloadable over the Web, NetVigil begins discovering the IT infrastructure immediately, returning its value quickly. The NetVigil application is affordably priced for mid-tier enterprises, but scalable enough for Fortune 500 organizations. Licenses for NetVigil v3.5 start at $35,000, with an average price of approximately $80,000. To date, Fidelia has filed for four patents on the NetVigil intellectual property. NetVigil runs under Solaris, Linux and Windows. Press resources, including screen shots, customer contacts and analyst contacts,
