Press ReleaseCornell University Consolidates Multiple Server Management products with Fidelia NetVigil Princeton, NJ – August 9, 2005 – Fidelia® Technology, the leader in Instant Business Visibility™ software, announced that Cornell University has selected its flagship product, NetVigil, for monitoring their server infrastructure and dependent services. "NetVigil’s browser based ease of use, combined with flexible security capabilities allows us to use a single product across our different departments”, said Mike Heisler, Manager of Systems at Ithaca based Cornell University. “We can now delegate the responsibility of configuration and management to the respective service owners”, added Heisler. “We tried to use a combination of older enterprise management products for our infrastructure, and have completely replaced them with Fidelia NetVigil because of the flexibility and low resources required to run NetVigil". Cornell University is monitoring their Solaris, Windows, AIX and Linux servers in multiple datacenters using two NetVigil Data Gathering Engines (DGEs). Multiple departments use a single copy of the product. NetVigil’s Service Container technology allows Cornell to monitor their administrative services such as Alumni Affairs, Student Registrations and HR services, thereby correlating the cause of service issues to the underlying IT infrastructure. "We used to have a dedicated person just to maintain our older products for a 100 servers”, continued Heisler. “Today, we are monitoring more than 300 servers, and have less than a full-time engineer dedicated to running NetVigil. Compared to the complexity of using and managing multiple freeware products, NetVigil’s integrated fault and performance monitoring capability along with its programmable API is a significant resource saver". "Fidelia offers a number of features which allow us to delegate more responsibility to our operations staff which is a key ROI driver”, said Rick MacDonald, Director of Systems and Operations at Cornell. “By integrating the NetVigil custom help functionality with our operational procedures, we can direct initial troubleshooting and recovery activity to our operations staff instead of having our system administrators do it". The NetVigil software is affordably priced for mid-tier enterprises, but scalable enough for Fortune 500 organizations. Licenses for NetVigil start at $40,000, with an average price of approximately $80,000. NetVigil runs under Solaris, Linux and Windows and is capable of monitoring virtually any IP enabled hardware or software (routers, switches, servers, databases and applications).
