Fiberlink Selects Fidelia NetVigil™ to Expand its Real-Time Managed Services for its Enterprise Customers

Princeton, NJ – April 12, 2005 – Fidelia® Technology, the leader in Instant Business Visibility™ software, today announced Fiberlink Communications Corp. has implemented Fidelia's NetVigil network monitoring and fault-management software. Fiberlink, a trusted enterprise partner for secure mobile workforce solutions, will use NetVigil to enhance its proactive network fault management capabilities by providing a higher level of visibility into the performance of the network devices it is managing.

In today's increasingly complex business environment, companies face network threats that are more potent and frequent, and require huge amounts of time and manpower to resolve. The health of a network needs to be monitored on a regular basis to ensure the proper safety nets are in place at all times.

"By using Fidelia's NetVigil tool, we are able to anticipate, identify and resolve our enterprise customers' network problems before they occur, thus making them more secure and avoiding unnecessary costs," said Doug Faith, product manager, Fiberlink Communications Corp. "We selected Fidelia's product because of its ease of use and ability to scale to large network deployments, while providing real-time and historical reports."

The NetVigil integrated fault and performance monitoring software gathers data on applications, networks and servers, and creates service based "business containers" comprising of the various IT elements of that service. These "business containers" illustrate the real-time performance of business services as derived from the performance of the underlying IT infrastructure.

Business containers can be based on rules and can represent a geographic location, a business unit, a revenue-generating service or any other boundary that helps users isolate the root cause of slow business services. Containers can share elements with other containers, showing the impact of an IT element on multiple business services in real-time.

NetVigil's intelligent alert and notification module, which allows users to set intelligent threshold alerts and subsequent action policies, minimizes false alarms and enhances operator productivity. Policies can be set based on the time of day, persistence of the event and time in state before triggering an action. The action framework is extensible, for adding features such as re-provisioning IT resources upon performance degradation, or the automatic restarting of stopped processes. The product's smart baselining feature automatically adjusts warning and critical thresholds based on past behavior patterns.

NetVigil features an intuitive point-and-click, browser-based user interface that is very easy to use and requires minimal training. The product can be actively used by technical staff and senior IT managers in all deployments because of its easily customizable user interface. Additionally, NetVigil has a powerful delegated-user security model, which allows multiple departments to use the product for their own IT infrastructure "slice." Downloadable over the Web, NetVigil can be deployed within hours even in very large networks, returning its value within days.

The NetVigil software is affordably priced for mid-tier enterprises, but scalable for Fortune 500 organizations.
